Nothing beats giving away cars at Christmas!

On a rainy day in December, we were privileged to joyfully hand the keys of a 2009 Toyota Corolla to an incredibly deserving woman who became our 11th and final client of 2023.

Anyone who has lived abroad can speak to how paralyzing it can be to make progress in a culture and language that are unfamiliar, yet our client has continued to push forward, break barriers, and build momentum since arriving in the United States. Here are a few of her accomplishments:

  • Finding/moving into an apartment

  • Finding and holding a job that allowed her to become financially independent, even setting money aside in savings

  • Learning the public transportation system in Dallas to be able to get to work and pursue her green card

  • Taking the initiative to learn English through her local library

  • Learning how to drive and being awarded a drivers’ license

  • Searching out and landing a better-paying job

  • Building a community of friends in Dallas

To learn that she is incredibly kind and compassionate toward others in need only cemented our admiration for this client.

One of our favorite moments from the vehicle giveaway was when we gave a Bible to her. We believe this secondary gift to be so important, we always make sure the Bible we give is in our client’s native language, or “heart language” as Jackie Scott, our head of Client Care calls it. When she first opened the Bible, our client audibly gasped and said: “It’s in (her language)!” She then immediately looked for something that would protect it from the rain around us.

Once again, thank you to everyone who gave so generously to help make this tangible gift of love possible.

We are looking forward to meeting and loving the people God brings us in 2024!
