Who Can Be Nominated And By Who?

Nominations will reopen on October 1, 2026 for Q1 2027 giveaways. This Nomination window will remain open through Nov 15th.

OnRamp DFW only considers applicants who are nominated to us by qualified Advocates as outlined below.
Advocate Qualifications
To qualify as an Advocate, all of the following requirements must be true:
You are not related to the nominee by blood or marriage, nor are you in a romantic relationship with the nominee. Additionally, you cannot simply be a friend, co-worker, or neighbor.
You work or volunteer with an advocate organization such as a charity, church, school, health care provider, or government agency AND you are mentoring, leading, teaching, counseling, or caring for the applicant through this organization. You must be professionally caring for them in some way.
You have personally known the nominee for at least 6 months, and have met with him or her multiple times. You truly know the applicant and can vouch for his or her character and need. (Note that OnRamp DFW occasionally makes exceptions to this timeframe, but you must email info@onrampdfw.org and request an exception before submitting a nomination.)
You have already confirmed that the nominee has a valid Texas drivers’ license and lives in one of these counties: Dallas County, Collin County, Tarrant County or Rockwall County. (While OnRamp DFW hopes to serve additional counties in the future, we cannot consider applicants outside of these counties for now.)
You have already confirmed that the nominee has positive monthly cash flow sufficient to afford gas and insurance for a car. This means that the applicant’s monthly income exceeds all monthly expenses by at least $300 so they can consistently afford gas and insurance.
You are willing to walk with the nominee through the OnRamp DFW process, including attending an interview, holding him or her accountable to mutually agreed upon action steps, and continuing to invest in this person’s life for a full year after the vehicle donation if the nominee is accepted into the OnRampDFW program. Barring unforeseen circumstances, if the applicant is gifted a vehicle by OnRamp DFW, you commit to contact the applicant at least once a month for the next twelve months to ensure they stay focused on their goals and work hard to accomplish them.
Client Qualifications
We are only able to consider clients who meet the qualifications outlined below.
Verify that your Nominee meets ALL of these requirements before submitting a nomination.
Nominee lives in one of the following 4 counties: Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Rockwall.
Nominee has a valid Texas driver’s license with an up-to-date address.
Nominee has positive monthly net income of at least $300 taking all income sources and debts into account.
Nominee has the ability to procure and pay for car insurance.
Nominee has a full time job of at least 30+ hours per week. (Exceptions to this rule may be granted if proof of stable income is provided, but contact us before proceeding.)
Nominee or nominee’s immediate family does not already have a vehicle. (Exceptions to this rule may be granted, but contact us before proceeding.) Also, note that outside of the cars that we give away, we do not provide car repairs.
Nominee is at least two years sober from any drug or alcohol addiction. (Exceptions to this rule may be granted, but contact us before proceeding.)
Nominee is at least two years past any imprisonment, parole, or probation. (Exceptions to this rule may be granted, but contact us before proceeding.)
Please note our timeline. From nomination to car donation, the process can take anywhere from 3-6 months. However a variety of factors play into this timeline and your situation may differ.
If you do not meet these requirements, you are welcome to help the applicant attempt to find another advocate who can meet these requirements. That person can complete the nomination.
