Become an Advocate
Advocates must be able to vouch for the character and determination of the client, and must be willing to help the client continue to meet future goals.
Please verify that the nominee meets ALL of these requirements to be considered for our program. OnRamp DFW cannot accept clients that do not meet all these criteria. If you have questions or would like to be considered as a rare exception, please send us an email (tara.jones@onrampdfw.org) before continuing.
Nominee has a full time job (30+ hours per week). If the answer is no, exceptions can be made but please email us with more information before continuing.
Nominee is at least two years sober from any drug or alcohol addiction (in very limited situations, exceptions to this rule may be granted, but please contact us before proceeding).
Nominee is at least two years past any imprisonment, parole, or probation (in very limited situations, exceptions to this rule may be granted, but please contact us before proceeding).
Please note: to be considered for a vehicle donation, prospective clients must also have (1) a valid driver’s license, (2) ability to procure and pay for insurance, and (3) positive monthly net income taking all income sources and debts into account.
If your nominee mets these qualifications and you would like to advocate for them, please fill out the form below.
Once submitted, we will review the form and, if we decide to move forward, will send you a full application to give to the person you are nominating. That full application gets into goals, finances, and vehicular needs. Once they complete the application, we will schedule an in-person interview with you, your nominee, and our OnRamp DFW Client Committee.
The average time between submitting a nomination and a client receiving a vehicle, if accepted into our program, is approximately 2 to 6 months. However, timing varies significantly based on a number of factors, and your experience may be different. Note that advocates are not required to provide any funds towards a vehicle.
