Client #19: A Fresh Start

Handing off the keys to a spiffed-up Toyota Corolla

We’re happy to share we just gave away another car! Though the details of this client are confidential, it was another beautiful giveaway, and another inspiring story of perseverance through incredible hardship. This single mom danced in the tax office parking lot when she saw her new Corolla because, unbeknownst to us, she has only ever owned Corollas and was hoping this vehicle would be a Corolla! This mom shared with us the challenges she has had because of her lack of transportation, everything from being at the mercy of others’ generosity and schedule; having to depend on an undependable bus system; and viewing church services from home, without being able to join in the fellowship and support of other believers.

Many of the single mothers we help choose to keep their information confidential because of a very real danger associated with publishing their name and face. Often, they have been the victim of someone else’s greed, anger or sexual abuse, and they are protecting not only themselves, but little ones who need shielding from someone who may be searching for them. The mother has usually had to summon incredible courage to leave the dangerous situation, sometimes with nothing more than the clothes on their back.

We are so privileged to be just a piece of helping them get a fresh start, and to partner with organizations who exist to help people who are in the most desperate situations of their lives, stepping in to be the difference between life and death.

As we held out the keys to this mother’s new vehicle, we simultaneously handed her a Bible, prayed for her, and affirmed that this was a gift from God, who sees her and loves her.

Driving away for the first time!

We’ve given away 3 cars so far this year, and have a goal to reach 15! Would you help us by becoming a monthly donor or by donating a vehicle you aren’t using anymore? There’s something wonderful about knowing your gifts are going to help real people in DFW get a fresh start, and possibly introducing them to Jesus for the first time. Visit our Donate page to see the various ways you can contribute.
