Client 68: Inspiring Courage
Have you ever made a decision you knew was the right one, only for it to backfire unexpectedly? OR, maybe you’ve been faced with a decision you knew you needed to make, but recognized that it might come at a significant cost?
What if that decision resulted in losing your housing, leading to job loss, and ultimately forcing you to start over? Would you have the courage to act?
I think most of us would like to believe that if the situation was dire enough, we would. Yet regardless, when you consider the circumstances, that decision can be incredibly challenging!
A few weeks ago we had the honor of giving a beautifully maintained Hyundai Sonata to our 68th client. They have asked us to not share their name or story details, but like the questions above indicate, this person made some very difficult & courageous decisions to protect some of their family members. Yet, doing the right thing came at a cost.
Since that moment they have walked through some incredibly painful moments, but have come out on the other side with a new hope, a healthy perspective on life, and their integrity fully intact. Their advocate, Lucy from In My Shoes, spoke incredibly well of them, mentioning that not only has this client excelled in their program, but is a consistent source of inspiration and encouragement to others around them.
One of the coolest parts of the giveaway day was that the couple who donated the vehicle to OnRamp DFW were able to attend the donation and meet the client receiving their old car! They spoke about how they as a family (mom, dad, & kids!) had prayed over the car before they gave it away. They asked that not only would God use it bless an individual in need, but also one of the kids prayed specifically that it would “go to a mommy” that needed a car. Not all of our cars go to mommys, but we were so excited that this one did. :)
This car donation not only impacts client #68, but it also impacts their children. Better access to childcare is possible. Easier access to better food and medical care is possible. Going out on the weekend or in the evenings is now on the table! And all of this because of a community of donors, pray’ers, and volunteers who are reaching out to their neighbors in the love of Jesus with the gift of a reliable vehicle.
