Client 69: Come and See What the Lord Has Done
Some stories are impossible to tell without talking about God’s faithfulness.
From the moment we first met Shentia, one thing became immediately clear: she doesn’t take credit for where she is today. Instead, she consistently points back to the Lord and the many people He has used to guide, encourage, and provide for her along the way.
Shentia is a single mother, a dedicated employee in public education, a church leader, and someone who has spent the last several years steadily rebuilding and pursuing a better future for her family. Alongside working multiple jobs, she has continued her education, recently earning her Master’s degree, and is close to completing her teaching certification.
Her advocates from Compass Christian Church have walked alongside Shentia for several years and have witnessed firsthand the remarkable transformation God has brought about in her life. Through seasons of challenge and change, Shentia has remained committed to her faith, her family, and serving others.
When Transportation Became the Obstacle
Like many of our clients, Shentia’s greatest challenge wasn’t a lack of motivation, it was a lack of reliable transportation.
After her previous vehicle suffered major mechanical problems, everyday responsibilities became increasingly difficult. Trips to work, church, school activities, appointments, and community events often depended on rides from friends or expensive alternatives. Despite these obstacles, Shentia continued showing up.
She kept working. She kept studying. She kept serving. She kept loving her kids.
And through it all, she continued giving God the glory.
Giveaway Day
On giveaway day, we had the privilege of handing Shentia the keys to a beautiful Toyota Camry, a car with lots of life left in it!
Moments like these are always special, but there was something particularly moving about hearing Shentia reflect on the journey God has brought her through. Rather than focusing on the hardships behind her, she spoke with gratitude for the people the Lord had placed in her life and the hope He had provided every step of the way.
For us, that is one of the greatest joys of OnRamp DFW. Not simply giving away cars, but getting to witness God’s faithfulness in the lives of the people we serve.
A New Road Ahead
This Camry represents far more than transportation. It means dependable trips to work and school. It means continuing her journey in public education. It means greater freedom to serve and invest in her community. Most importantly, it means one less burden weighing on a family that has already demonstrated extraordinary perseverance and faith.
As Psalm 66 says:
“Come and see what God has done, His awesome deeds for mankind.”
Thank you to everyone who gives, volunteers, prays, and supports OnRamp DFW. Because of your generosity, stories like Shentia’s continue to unfold.
And as Shentia would quickly tell you, All glory belongs to God!
