Client 83: Contagious Joy!

Have you ever met somebody and from the time they walked into the room everybody just seemed to be happier and lively? Some people have a way of bringing joy into a space, and Naomi, our 83rd client, is certainly one of them! Despite having faced more than her fair share of challenges at a young age, she carries a contagious joy and optimism that makes it hard not to smile when you're around her.

Naomi came to us from Ebby House at Fowler Communities, a shelter for young girls transitioning into adulthood. She was connected to them after graduating from high school when her family was navigating an incredibly difficult season and relocating out of state. In the middle of that uncertainty, Naomi made the mature decision to join Ebby House and begin building a future of her own.

Since then, she has made incredible progress. In just one year, Naomi has earned a year's worth of college credits while working at H-E-B, where she has taken on multiple roles and varying hours to earn additional income. Her advocate, Ami, describes her as

“…sharp, thoughtful, and incredibly hardworking. When Naomi sets her mind to something, she follows through!”

We were honored to come alongside Naomi in her journey with the gift of a vehicle of her own. She received a cute & compact Toyota Yaris, which she immediately said fit her personality perfectly! Reliable transportation will give this young woman greater freedom to continue working, pursue her education, save for the future, and take another step toward the independence she is working so hard to achieve.

We are grateful for our partnership with Ebby House in this giveaway. Their team does incredible work walking alongside young ladies as they navigate difficult transitions out of abandonment, the foster system, or even homelessness. They help meet their immediate needs, and build the skills and foundation for long-term success. Ami and the entire team have been wonderful partners, and we loved getting to be part of Naomi's story.

Naomi's determination is impressive, but it's that joy she carries with her that really sticks with you. We are grateful to have played a small part in her journey and look forward to seeing all that she accomplishes next!
