Strength For Today and Bright Hope For Tomorrow
As challenges kept coming, Destiny drew strength from the hope of a better life for her kids.
When life stacks burden after burden on your shoulders, it is often easy to give up hope. And yet for Destiny, our 43rd client and an incredible single mother of 3, what we saw and heard every time we spoke with her was a woman motivated by hope. That tomorrow can be different for her. Tomorrow can bring a different life for her kids.
OnRamp’s motto is “Driven by Hope” and while Destiny’s story is one of deep pain and hardship, it is even more so one of strength, endurance, and hope in God.
A victim of domestic violence, Destiny found herself alone and in a difficult place. Pregnant with her 3rd child, trying to work a job + raising her 2 other children [ALL WITHOUT RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION] Destiny didn’t know how she could continue providing for everybody. However, after getting connected to Julie (her advocate) at Thrive Women’s Clinic, Destiny found support and chose life, thereby taking a step of faith into a very scary future.

Throughout the interview process, it was clear that trusting in God & providing a better future for her children is what drives Destiny. After her 3rd child was born, she was back to work within 2 WEEKS because she was willing to do whatever it took to care for them. Yet, a lack of access to reliable transportation made accomplishing her goals nearly impossible. Without a car, Destiny was unable to get her children to childcare, limiting their access to friends and additional care. Without a car, Destiny had to transition to remote work and reduced hours, limiting her potential for career advancement. Sometimes, just working hard isn’t the key to success.
Destiny’s Beautiful New Van
We love to give away reliable & nice cars to our clients. Cars that we are confident will last 5+ years, will be suitable for the clients family and needs, and will enable them to continue on their road to self-sufficiency. Destiny’s 2017 Toyota Sienna will be able to do that and then some! This beautiful, low-milage van, donated to us by someone in our community, not only wowed us on the OnRamp team, but took the breath away from Destiny when she finally saw it. It was like a present that kept on giving as she got inside and started exploring all of the cool features that will enable her to care for her precious kids.

A few hours after the giveaway, Destiny texted us: “Just wanted to say thanks to everyone again. Everyone of yall will always hold a special place in my heart. My heart is full, our future looks bright and unstoppable!!!” And then a few weeks later we received the following hand-written card from Destiny that we wanted to share with y’all:
That text and this thank-you card goes out not just to the OnRamp volunteers that were present at the giveaway that morning, but to each and every one of you who support and pray for OnRampDFW. Getting to give a wonderful gift to an incredible mom like Destiny takes the volunteer hours, financial support, and unending prayers of dozens and dozens of individuals. Thank you to everyone who has taken the step to partner with us.
