Client 79: Cooking Up A New Chapter for Sukari

We love seeing the passion and excitement for life come out of our clients when they finally realize they have options at their fingertips! Meet Sukari, our newest OnRamp DFW family member.

Sukari arrived at Agape Resource & Assistance Center in September 2025 after losing her housing and finding herself unable to afford a place for herself and her young daughter. Despite feeling like life was upside down, she continued working at a local restaurant, enrolled her daughter in elementary school, and committed herself to completing culinary school.

Her hard work paid off. Sukari graduated with honors in July of this year and gained experience in food safety, baking, restaurant management, and culinary arts. Her dedication caught the attention of one of her instructors, who connected her with an opportunity to begin a new career as an Assistant Chef at Southern Methodist University!

Sukari's advocate, Ainsley, had only worked with her for a few months before realizing she was a perfect candidate for OnRamp DFW. Sukari follows through on her goals, takes responsibility for herself, and is willing to put in the work necessary to move forward.

Ainsley also shared how intentional Sukari is about setting a positive example for her daughter. Her determination, resilience, and commitment to building a better future are shaping not only her own life, but her daughter's as well!

On giveaway day, we were honored to hand Sukari the keys to a very well-maintained Scion iA. With her new position at SMU, the vehicle will help her get to work reliably, continue building her career, and create greater stability for herself and her daughter.

Sukari also has big dreams for the future. She hopes to one day create her own line of sauces and spices and own a catering business! YUMM! This new career is another step toward those goals.

At OnRamp DFW, we believe reliable transportation can be a catalyst for self-sufficiency and new roads. A vehicle does not create someone's determination or work ethic, but it can remove a significant barrier and give someone the freedom to pursue the goals they have already worked so hard to achieve.

We are grateful to Ainsley and the team at Agape for advocating for Sukari and walking alongside her. We are also deeply thankful to the donors and volunteers who make these vehicle gifts possible. Every vehicle we give represents a community of people choosing to invest in the lives of their neighbors.
